It wasn't me

So... Mom, Dad... don't be alarmed. Just keep reading. I guess I was in kind of funk; relationship problems and lack of sleep are a bad combination. I was headed out to the site early one morning before sunrise and instead I just got closer to home. I sort of ran the truck into one of the poles holding up our tin shack. It wasn't any slight tap either; oh no, I rammed the truck into the house. Silly me putting the car into drive instead of reverse and then trying to stop by hitting the gas instead of the breaks. Well, the house was fine somehow. I guess that's what's good about having a metal one, but the company vehicle was pretty bent out of shape. I did the right thing though mom and dad, I called someone right away. I told him the plain truth and how I'm such an idiot, and somehow he was totally fine with it. He was actually more interested in how the birds were doing. He just asked if it still ran and that was a positive, so I guess I'm in the clear. Oh, I love the Peregrine Fund. They're like my second parents. The next day my mind was quickly overwhelmed to be thinking about the truck; we received 13 more falcons! Group four: PR, P5, 4A, NC, 8A, 6H, 3N) and Group five:PW, RD, A5, 3R, 3A, MZ. These are our last groups, making it 26 falcons in all. Who would of thought to trust me, the girl who drives into houses, with the responsibility of watching after 26 endangered falcons! I guess they're crazy. Later on in the week, there was a ridiculous storm and Christine and I had to leave the sight. We drove back to the house but decided it would be best to just stay out in the truck. Lightning was striking all around us and the sound of thunder was so strong that we had to cover our ears. Last night turned out to be very eventful for us. So we've been feeding these box turtle lately that like to hang out under the towers. We usually just rip off a leg and hand feed it to them. Well, I was just sitting in my chair hanging out waiting for some falcons to come around and I heard something coming through the grass. I was thinking to myself, "What the heck is that?" And then, he popped right on out. It was one of the box turtles, he had found us and he was hungry. He looked around for a bit and then walked right on over. We fed him some nectarine peels but I guess it just wasn't enough. He got closer and closer and Christine and I were just amazed with him. Then he started biting my toes. At first it was still cute, but I guess he wasn't getting anything so he started biting harder, and it started to hurt. He would just sit under my chair for a bit, and then sneak up on me again. Christine thought it was funny so she wouldn't tell me when she saw him go in for the kill, but I could tell by the grin that stretched across her face. Just a few minutes later a car drove up. It was one of the rancher's daughters, Sarah. She came to tell us that tomorrow the family was going to come and join us at the site at night and bring some Texas peaches and white wine. Should be a funny night, trying to ID the falcons while entertaining the Means. We're excited to finally have someone else to hang out with besides ourselves. So glad to hear from all of you. Miss you all terribly. Love, Ang Sorry about the lack of pictures this time... I'm working on finding that cable. Don't worry Dad, it's somewhere.

Hi Ang

I am having trouble posting a comment to you. I have sent them and they never show up. I wanted to say that at least you have a paying job so you can repair the damage that you have done. Only you can hit the house that you are living in. Good thing it wasn't too hard.
Love you and miss you. Thanks for the letter you sent, it was so nice of you.

All I gotta say is thank goodness I didn't give you my new car to drive. Ruin that truck all you want. And what are you doing feeding the wildlife. There are signs everywhere out here saying don't feed the animals and you wouldn't believe how many people feed these dang squirrels and chipmunks. Give me a call sometime soon. Hopefully we can talk for more than a minute. Love you,

Rose and B.J.
